Safety signs in Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) include fire safety signs, emergency exit signs, and other safety signs.
Fire safety signs
- Escape route location signs: Indicate where to go in an emergency
- Emergency exit signs: Indicate where to go in an emergency
- Fire action signs: Indicate what to do in a fire
- Fire alarm and fire fighting equipment signs: Indicate where to find fire alarms and equipment
Other safety signs
- Safe condition signs: Indicate where to find emergency exits, escape routes, and first aid
- Mandatory signs: Indicate what action to take, such as wearing protective equipment
- Warning signs: Indicate to be careful, take precautions, or examine something
- Prohibition signs: Indicate dangerous behavior, such as stopping, shutting down, or evacuating
The color of a safety sign can indicate its meaning or purpose. For example, mandatory signs are blue, warning signs are yellow, and emergency exit signs are green.
